This biographical picture book tells the story of Augustine of Hippo. While Augustine was growing up, its unlikely that anyone thought he would become a father of the Church. Augustine rejected his mothers plea to follow Jesus and chased after fame and fortune instead. He was smart, good at public speaking, and drew acclaim on the biggest stages in the world. The only problem was that the more popular he grew, the more restless his heart became. But when he went to a church to hear a man named Ambrose preach, Augustine began to wonder: Had he been running the wrong way all his life? Travel along with one of the greatest thinkers to ever live as he discovers that the everlasting love he had been chasing after all his life could only be found by turning around and trusting in Christ.

Narrated by an insightful hippopotamus, readers learn that Augustine became a leader of the church and wrote important books explaining and defending the Christian faith. His writings live on today as some of the most impactful teachings in the history of Christianity. Through Augustines story readers will not only learn about a foundational figure in Christian history; they will be reminded of the goodness and beauty of the gospel.
