Although mostly self-taught, he was deeply inspired by Andrs Segovia after hearing him perform in Budapest in 1937. Kovts worked tirelessly to have the guitar recognized as a serious classical instrument. He was Hungary’s first full-time guitarist, working at the National Puppet Theatre, and later taught at the Budapest Music School Organization. Even after emigrating in 1956, his compositions continued to be published and respected internationally.About the Work:First published in 1980-81, the two-volumeShort Studies for Guitarwas created to expand the limited repertoire available for learners at the time. Kovts researched 19th-century virtuosos as well as Baroque and Renaissance masters to inform his teaching style. These specific pieces reflect his affinity for modern musical trends, aiming to say as much as possible within a short duration. This book is included in the curriculum program for basic art education in Hungary.rdekessgekA zeneszerzrl:Kovts Barna (1920-2005) ttr jelentsg gitrmvsz, tanr s zeneszerz volt, aki megalapozta a magyarorszgi intzmnyes gitroktatst.
