Bach’s French Suite in E Major, BWV 817, expertly transcribed for solo flute in the key of G Major by the internationally acclaimed Baroque flutist,Csalog Benedek. The original E Major French Suite is notable among Bach’s keyboard works for its distincthomophonic character, suggesting to many scholars that parts of it may have originally been intended for a different instrument. Csalog Benedek capitalizes on this unique quality, creating an authentic and idiomatic transcription that draws directly from the German flute music and performance practices of the 1720s and 1730s.
