This edition utilizes theKirkpatrick (K.) numbering system, established by American harpsichordist and musicologistRalph Kirkpatrick, which is widely accepted as the chronological reference for the sonatas, superseding the older Longo (L.) numbering. EditorBalla Gyrgystrictly adheres to theUrtextprinciple, meaning the original musical text is preserved with only necessary minor alterations. The fingering found in the score is entirely an editorial suggestion, as Scarlatti’s original manuscripts contained none.
