This first volume contains exercisesNo. 1 through 25, specifically designed to address the unique mechanical challenges found in the works of Brahms and his contemporaries. Rather than simple repetitive patterns, these exercises focus on finger independence, unconventional fingerings, and complex rhythmic subdivisions. Published by the legendaryCasa Ricordi, this 48-page volume is an indispensable tool for the serious pianist aiming to master the density and power of the Germanic piano tradition.Product FeaturesFormat:Softcover Sheet MusicLength:48 PagesWeight:0.19 kgVolume:Volume I (Exercises 125)Publisher:Ricordi (Milan)Technical Focus:Polyphonic independence, stretching, and lateral flexibility.Interesting FactsJohannes Brahms spent decades refining these exercises, but he only allowed them to be published in 1893, near the end of his life. He famously wrote to his publisher, Simrock, that these exercises were intended to be “dangerous” if used incorrectlymeaning they require a high level of concentration and proper physical relaxation. Unlike the more mechanical studies of Hanon, Brahmss exercises often use “broken” patterns and cross-rhythms (such as 2 against 3 or 3 against 4) to ensure the mind and the fingers are equally engaged. This Ricordi edition is preferred by many teachers for its spacious layout, which is essential when reading the often-dense notation of these technical challenges.PublishersCasa Ricordi (Milan)A global leader in classical music publishing since 1808.
