Originally composed in 1973 for the Estonian filmUkuaru, directed by Leida Laius, this waltz captures a sense of nostalgic beauty and folk-like simplicity. While Prt is world-renowned for his deeply spiritual and complex “tintinnabuli” style, this piece offers a more melodic, accessible, and rhythmic side of his genius. It is a wonderful addition to any pianist’s repertoire, bridging the gap between cinematic storytelling and contemporary classical performance.Product FeaturesFormat:Sheet Music / ScoreLength:4 PagesDimensions:Approximately 23.2 x 30.5 cmWeight:0.06 kgDifficulty:IntermediateLanguage:Multilingual (English, German, Estonian notation)Interesting FactsCinematic Origins:The piece was famously used in the 1973 filmUkuaru, where it serves as a central musical theme representing hope and resilience in the face of hardship.Accordion Roots:Although this edition is for piano, the waltz was originally played on an accordion in the movie, reflecting its folk-inspired origins.National Treasure:In Estonia, theUkuaru valssis widely recognized and beloved, often played at weddings and cultural celebrations.Late Publication:Despite being written in the 70s, Arvo Prt only authorized the official piano arrangement for publication by Universal Edition in 2010.PublishersUniversal Edition (Vienna)We value your feedback!
