When Joseph Haydn was hired as Vice-Kapellmeister in 1761, he worked under the aging Werner until the latter’s death in 1766.The Esterhzy Archive:Most of Werners surviving manuscripts are preserved in the National Szchnyi Library in Budapest. TheMusica Rinataseries was specifically created to publish these neglected masterpieces.Musical Style:While Werner was known as a master of the “old style” (contrapuntal writing), these Concertante Pieces showcase his ability to adapt to the more modern, melodic trends of his time.Versatility:The solo part is intentionally flexible, allowing for performance on either the harpsichord for a secular chamber setting or the organ for more formal or sacred acoustics.PublishersEditio Musica Budapest ZenemkiadWe value your feedback!
