H. Auden. First performed in 1941, the opera is based on the legendary American folk hero Paul Bunyan, the giant lumberjack whose mythical exploits have come to symbolize the spirit of American frontier life. This 48-page libretto offers the full text of the opera, providing invaluable insight into the lyrical and dramatic language crafted by Auden. With themes of community, ambition, disillusionment, and renewal, the work blends satire with sincere emotional depth, all set to Brittens characteristically colorful and inventive musical language.Though initially met with mixed reception, Paul Bunyan has since found its place as a fascinating early work in Brittens canon, notable for its fusion of American myth, British operatic tradition, and twentieth-century sensibilities. It also marks an important collaboration between Britten and Auden, both in their artistic prime. This libretto is an essential companion for singers, directors, scholars, and opera lovers, offering a complete look at the narrative framework and poetic voice behind one of Brittens most unique stage works.Hungarian Translation – Overview (ttekints)A Paul Bunyan egy rendkvl fantziads s lnk ktfelvonsos opera, amelyet a hres brit zeneszerz, Benjamin Britten komponlt, W.
