Through a playful yet structured approach, this book helps young violinists build confidence and fluency in shifting, one of the key technical milestones in string playing. The collection includes a diverse range of well-known tunes that provide an engaging context for practicing position changes. Each piece is accompanied by clear technical guidance, such as the use of a guide finger to aid smooth shifts, preparatory techniques for transitioning between positions, and melodic patterns that appear in a variety of keys and registers.A highlight of the book is its inclusion of technical exercises cleverly titled fingerobics and glisserobics, which aim to improve finger strength, control, and accuracy when moving along the fingerboard. These drills are short, targeted, and enjoyable, helping students develop the physical and mental flexibility required for confident shifting.Ideal for lessons, individual practice, or use in string classes, “Nifty Shifts” encourages violinists to explore their instrument more freely and creatively while laying the groundwork for more advanced technique. With its friendly layout, progressive structure, and musical variety, its a valuable stepping stone toward fluent and expressive playing.Hungarian Translation – Overview (ttekints)A Nifty Shifts Mary Cohen tollbl egy jtkos s hasznos oktatsi kiadvny, amelyet kifejezetten 34. fokozat hegedsk szmra ksztettek, akik pp elkezdik elsajttani a pozcivlts technikjt.
