His methodology emphasized a “singing” tone on the oboe, which is reflected in the melodic focus of this beginner’s collection.A History of the Oboe:The repertoire spans from the Renaissance (Branle de champagne) to the 20th century, allowing students to experience how the oboe’s role evolved from a double-reed folk instrument to a refined solo voice.Hungarian Folk Influence:True to the Kodly-inspired Hungarian pedagogy, the volume includes arrangements by contemporary masters like Endre Szervnszky, helping students internalize native rhythms and modal scales.Adaptability:While written for oboe, many of these pieces serve as excellent early training for double-reed control and phrasing that is applicable across the woodwind family.Track Listing (Contents)Agostini, P.
