Srkzy’s achievement lies in retaining the counterpoint and voice-leading complexity while making the pieces physically playable on the standard guitar. The BWV 1000 and 1006a:The Fuge BWV 1000 is an arrangement of the second movement of Bach’sSolo Violin Sonata No. 1 (BWV 1001), demonstrating Bach’s own practice of self-transcription. Similarly, the Suite BWV 1006a is an arrangement of theSolo Violin Partita No. 3 (BWV 1006). Their inclusion here confirms the shared history between Bach’s works for solo violin, lute, and keyboard. The Editor’s Authority:Srkzy Gergely(19241987) was a prominent Hungarian guitarist, lute player, and pedagogue. His dual expertise on both the historical lute and the modern guitar gives this transcription immense authority and practical insight.rdekessgek (Hungarian Interesting Facts)A Lant vs. Gitr kihvs:A Lant szvitek modern gitrra val trsa azrt jelent kihvst, mert Bach eredeti lantja egy sszetett hangszer volt, eltr szm hrral (krus) s egyedi hangolssal.
