This 88-page volume captures the essence of youth, vitality, and the relentless passage of time through powerful, lyrical verse. The collection explores themes of light and shadow, seasons of transformation, the intensity of youthful passion, and the bittersweet nature of memory. Buda’s poetry resonates with images of ice breaking, buds bursting forth, wings spreading, and hearts beatingmetaphors for the tumultuous energy of young adulthood. The title itself, “Mg lsz” (While You Live), serves as both an invitation and an urgent reminder to embrace life fully in the present moment. Through his distinctive voice, Buda addresses the reader with unflinching honesty, celebrating “the year of straight speaking” and “inexhaustible strength,” while simultaneously gathering the precious crumbs of his treasured twentieth year. This collection speaks to anyone who has experienced the fire of youth and the poignant act of looking back on those formative years.Product FeaturesFormat: Paperback bookPages: 88 pagesLanguage: Hungarian (Magyar)ISBN: 9789633491027 / 978-9633491027Publisher: Holnap KiadPublication Year: 2014Publication Location: Budapest, HungaryAuthor: Buda FerencGenre: Contemporary poetry, Lyric poetryThemes: Youth, time, memory, vitality, transformationStyle: Evocative, metaphorical, introspectiveInteresting FactsFerenc Buda is a significant voice in contemporary Hungarian poetry, known for his ability to blend personal narrative with universal themes. The opening lines of “Mg lsz” reveal Buda’s distinctive poetic styledensely layered imagery that moves from natural phenomena (ice breaking, buds opening) to human experiences (flags, weapons, shackles), creating a portrait of youth as both liberating and constrained. His use of possessive language”my year, my blood”emphasizes the deeply personal nature of memory while his metaphor of gathering bread crumbs from his twentieth year suggests both the preciousness and fragility of youthful experience. The collection’s title carries philosophical weight, echoing the Latin phrase “carpe diem” while remaining distinctly Hungarian in its directness and emotional intensity. Buda’s work sits within a rich tradition of Hungarian poetry that examines the intersection of personal identity and historical moment. The compact 88-page format allows for concentrated emotional impact, with each poem serving as a carefully preserved moment in time. This collection demonstrates how contemporary Hungarian poetry continues to grapple with timeless questions of existence, identity, and the fleeting nature of youth.Publisher InformationHolnap Kiadis a prestigious Hungarian publishing house based in Budapest, founded in 1918.
