This piece is predominantly hushed and serene, reflecting Harvey’s deep exploration of the fundamentals of his craft. In this work, Harvey superimposes lines of plainsong, delighting in the simple clashes of note against note, while creating rich and otherworldly sonorities through intricate use of canon. Known for his embrace of the latest musical technologies, Harvey found a constant in the simplicity of the a cappella choir, returning to it throughout his life.Paul Conway, writing inTempo, remarked on the piece’s “understated but extremely affecting, numinous power,” highlighting its emotional depth and impact. The composition is written for mixed voices (SATB) in 16 parts, making it a complex and rewarding addition to any choral repertoire.Hungarian Translation – Overview (ttekints)A “Plainsongs for Peace and Light”egy rzelmes kompozciJonathan Harveyltal, amely az utols mve volt.
