Debussy’s use of its infectious, strutting rhythm inGolliwogg’s Cake Walkwas both topical and daring for a serious classical composer at the time. The piece also famously features a parodied reference to the opening of Wagner’sTristan und Isolde, an irreverent musical joke that highlights Debussy’s often witty skepticism toward German Romanticism. The transcriber,Roth Ede(19302019), was a prominent Hungarian guitarist and teacher who specialized in historical performance and expanding the classical guitar repertoire with quality transcriptions like this one.rdekessgekACake Walkegy pre-jazz tnc volt, amely az afroamerikai kultrbl szrmazott, s a 20. szzad forduljn hatalmas npszersgre tett szert Eurpban.
