Frances was happily married, and balanced her works ofcharity with caring for her threechildren. When the plague struckRome in the 1420s, she andother Roman women formed asociety to care for the poor andthe plague victims. Francesreceived many heavenly visions, and often saw her guardianangel, who would light her wayas she read or traveled thestreets of Rome doing works ofcharity. For that reason, Francesis a patron saint of travelers andmotorists!
