This collection of24 character piecesis a witty and profound tribute toJ.S. Bach’sThe Well-Tempered Clavier, using the composer’s surname for clever wordplay.Like Bach’s cycle, Wolf’s work featuresone composition in both major and minor keys for each tone of the chromatic scale, from the openingEpiclesisto the concludingEpilogue, which subtly embeds the pitches of Bach’s name. This work successfullypushes the boundaries between genres, incorporatingjazz harmoniesand expressive titles (Bitter tango,Bonjour M. Debussy,Frederic&George) into a classical framework. It is highly recommended foradvanced pianistsand classical musicians interested in exploring contemporary, harmonically rich keyboard repertoire.ttekints: A Jl Temperlt WolfEz a kottakiadvnyWolf Pter(a Liszt Ferenc Zenemvszeti Egyetem doktori diplomjt szerz zeneszerz) nagyszabs zongoramve, aWolf-temperiertes Klavier. In the preface, he notes that hisInvokci(Epiclesis) for inspiration was successful, allowing him to work “continuously and without inhibitions.” The final moment of theEpilogue, where he inscribes the pitches corresponding toB-A-C-H(B flat, A, C, B natural), gave him “a little shiver,” underscoring the spiritual connection to the German master. This volume is an important addition to the modern Hungarian piano repertoire.Contents: 24 Character Pieces (Tartalomjegyzk)Invokci (Epiclesis)Patak (Stream)Hajnal (Rise of Day)OstinatoScherzoNaplemente (Sunset)bredj!
